Community Partners

Collaboration is at the heart of our approach.

Since beginning programming in 2013, Nurture has partnered with the following partners to increase our impact:

From October 2013 to March 2018, Nurture partnered with Project Yoga Richmond to offer the city’s only donation-based prenatal and postnatal yoga classes in their studio.

From 2013 – 2015, we partnered with Richmond Healthy Start Initiative to provide technical and social media assistance for the Big Latch On, RVA Latches On!, and RVA Breastfeeds, events that promote community support for breastfeeding.

In 2015 we partnered with Richmond Healthy Start Initiative, Richmond City Health District, Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute, and The Spark Mill to produce a day-long symposium that trained 110 care providers from 35 organizations in the use of a research-based prenatal breastfeeding education tool.

In 2016 we partnered with VCU School of Nursing on a pilot research study exploring the effects of yoga on measures of health and mood in pregnant women. Also in 2016, Nurture began a series of Community Conversations with maternal health stakeholders to explore resources, gaps, and opportunities to improve support for pregnant and postpartum women in RVA.

On July 1, 2018, Nurture received a $60,000, two year grant to support the work of #RVAbreastfeeds. Our 2018 – 2020 grant partners include VCU Health, Richmond City Health District, cBe Consulting, Richmond City WIC, Richmond Resource Mothers, the Virginia Fatherhood Initiative, CW Television, and several community partners who are breastfeeding parents and grandparents.
