#RVAbreastfeeds is a Healthy Communities Action Team that seeks to reduce childhood obesity through policy, infrastructure, and environmental changes that promote a breastfeeding friendly community. Our 2020 – 2023 focus centers on moving the City of Richmond toward achieving the Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community (BFFC) designation as outlined in the 10-step framework developed by Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute for the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action.
Formal partners for this initiative include Nurture, Birth in Color RVA, Cbe Consulting, Richmond City WIC, Richmond Resource Mothers, Richmond City Health District, VCU Health CenteringPregnancy®, the Virginia Department of Health, and several community members who are breastfeeding parents. #RVAbreastfeeds is supported by funding from Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, and administered through Nurture. Visit the #RVAbreastfeeds website to learn more about past coalition activities and initiatives.
